New website for Kingsley Smythe

26th February 2021 / by Richard Gray

We’ve just launched a new website for manufacturers and suppliers of teak furniture, Kingsley Smythe. This was a great e-commerce project to work on, and one we thoroughly enjoyed.

Responsive web design for Kingsley Smythe

Based between Bristol and Swindon, Kingsley Smythe are a family-run business who manufacture and import quality teak furniture.

They supply garden centres and independent retailers throughout the UK, as well as selling and shipping direct to the homeowner.  Their furniture has been featured on the BBC and Channel 4 and the company is rapidly growing in capacity and capability.

Our involvement started with a chance phone call in the latter half of 2020 when business owner, Laura Clark, got in touch to ask if we could help with their existing website.  Whilst a WordPress and WooCommerce-based website, the site was very old and really not fit for purpose.  It was incredibly slow, the code was bloated and it ranked very poorly for organic SEO.

For a few months, we did what we could but this was really only tinkering at the edges.  We had a very frank discussion with Laura and explained that to really reap the benefits of the new partnership, a new website would be needed.

Not being a particularly big fan of the original colours and, convinced that what we were saying made good sense, Laura readily agreed.

We commissioned a new graphic design and colour scheme, developed a detailed wireframe and then set about the build importing the products from the existing website.  The architecture was improved, the content rewritten, and then a fully managed SEO and PPC programme was put in place.

We used Hopewiser’s autocomplete address lookup facility again here, which is rapidly becoming our go-to solution for this sort of functionality. We feel that anything that a site can do to make it easier and faster for users to check out is only going to increase sales.

The site launched in February 2021 and one sunny weekend that month saw more sales than any single day in the previous history of the old site.  A testament to both Laura’s hard work in promoting the site on social media channels, as well as that of our SEO team’s effort in creating and managing the necessary campaigns.

Do head over to the Kingsley Smythe website and have a look at their product range.

"From the first phone call I made to Pink Fish to the current day, their work has been outstanding. They offer continued support, nothing is too much trouble and they react quickly to our ever changing business needs. They have helped the business grow and we look forward to a continued relationship with the company."
