We have ASP.NET and Laravel developers who have years of experience in building bespoke systems. Richard, our Operations Director, has a background in systems analysis & design, as well as User Experience (UX) design. These skills all combine to underpin our systems development team.
How we work
As with all projects, we like to start with a coffee and a chat in our Swindon office. We first want you to tell us exactly what it is you’re trying to do, rather than tell us what you think you need. We’ll no doubt have lots of questions for you – we’re good like that. Bespoke projects are almost always more involved than brochure websites, so we need to make sure we really understand what you want to do.
Planning your bespoke project
It’s important we spent a lot of time in design and planning to ensure we’re building the right thing. We need to document the functional and non-functional requirements of the project.
We begin with wireframes and prototypes to show the ways in which data is captured, manipulated and output. We’ll need you to test these – your feedback is essential.
We write a detailed project specification document, agree a budget and set a timeline with milestones and deadlines. Once you’re happy with this, and have approved any prototypes, we can then begin the build.
Developing a bespoke system
The time it takes to build a bespoke system depends entirely on its complexity. It’s complexity is based on your requirements. With a clear direction, progress is generally fast and we like to show you new features as we develop them. Having your feedback early on means we can make small changes to the project without incurring a lot of extra expense. As a result, the product you get at the end is then better aligned to your business needs and expectations.
Testing and evaluation
Testing a bespoke system is critical and we spend a lot of time testing things ourselves first. Because we’ve spent time getting to know you and your business, we can see whether what we’ve developed is going to work. Only when we’re happy with it will we give it to you to test.
Your involvement in this is essential and we’ll need your feedback.
