Evolving an established brand online

We’ve worked with Melksham-based Downland Produce for several years, and were recently asked to give their website a bit of a facelift.
The existing site is e-commerce and runs on our recommended WooCommerce platform. Launched in 2021, it no longer quite reflects the quality which Downland are known for. Our design team worked on developing a more refined colour palette, and used a combination of serif and sans-serif fonts to provide that quality feel.
Downland took the opportunity to overhaul their product range and uploaded a set of high-quality product images at the same time. We can’t stress enough how much of a difference proper studio-quality images can make on an e-commerce website.
We’re continuing our use of the (relatively) new cart/basket and checkout blocks provided by WooCommerce. Not all plugins work with the checkout blocks yet, and we identified some issues with a piece of software we’d bought from another agency. Working with their development team we helped them to track down the issue and they quickly deployed a fix.
The website has a set of really nice features such as:
We also wrote some extra code to provide a custom picking and packing report for the butchery staff. This shows all of the products ordered in the last 24 hours, making it easy for the staff to collect from the cold store and make up the orders all in one go.
Now that the site has launched, we’ll be starting a digital marketing campaign which includes:
Do have a look at their website – and order now for Christmas!
Helping to make those business processes work as efficiently as possible by adding custom functionality to a website really is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable things we do here at Pink Fish.
