REPL – moving from Squarespace

10th February 2019 / by Richard Gray

We began working with REPL after a call to see if we could help update their website, originally built and hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace purports to be an “all-in-one solution for anyone looking to create a beautiful website.”

Responsive web design for REPL

Whilst free website builders have their uses, we find more and more people turning to us after they (quite rapidly) reach the limits of what they can do with their time and the technology. The builders seem good for small sites with a very defined scope but when you want to do something more with them it often takes more time than people have available to learn how to do it effectively.

We talked at length about the benefits of WordPress – its easy-to-use content management system, the availability of plugins to extend functionality – and it rapidly became clear to REPL that re-building the site on a new platform, supported by a digital agency with proven expertise was a logical next step.

We spent some time looking at the existing site and identifying areas in which we felt the User Experience (UX) could be improved. The way the product catalogue was laid out was one of them and we wireframed potential design directions. We also suggested some visual design improvements that we felt would improve the professional face of REPL and these were all readily accepted.

Have a look at the new REPL site and see what you think.

"Both Richard and Steve are a real pleasure to work with. Our new website is very professional and meets all of our requirements.  Both the design & build process have been very smooth. Nothing is ever a problem and they are always quick to respond and happy to help. We look forward to continue working with Pink Fish."
