D&J Sports, Cirencester

D&J Sports is a long-established sports, fishing and country wear shop in the centre of Cirencester.  We’ve been working with them for some time on the development of their new website, focusing initially on the sale of school uniform, but with the intention of expanding to become a full online sports shop at a later date.

Whilst the majority of the work could be built upon our solid knowledge of WooCommerce, D&J Sports used a third-party system for stock control in their Cricklade Road shop.  This needed to be integrated into the website so that both physical sales and virtual sales drew from the same stockpiles, ensuring the website was never able to sell anything that the physical shop didn’t actually have.

The final addition to the site was driven in response to the coronavirus pandemic.  D&J asked for a bookings module to be added that would allow customers to book timed appointment slots for trying on uniform.

WordPress is well-served with a plethora of excellent ready-made plugins and we spent some time evaluating several which we thought would do the job, finally installing the one we felt best suited to the purpose.

This is where WordPress really wins over other bespoke systems or some of the free website builders.  Because the open-source community are continually providing and updating plugins for the platform, adding functionality like this is generally inexpensive and very quick to do – you’re not spending days (and therefore lots of budget) coding the required functionality.
