It’s Christmas Time….
December 16, 2010 by Patrick · Leave a Comment
As this year 2010 comes to the final weeks everyone is looking forward to the Christmas break. Now is the perfect time to look at your website and to do two very important things.
1. See if there is any information on the pages that are showing dates that are now out of date. With the New Year 2011, old 2010 dates will give an impression you are not managing your website effectively.
If you need help with this then call us to make any edits of text which are date sensitive.
2. Now is also the time to reflect on the past 12 months and to ask has your website preformed well? Can it be found on Google, and has it brought enquires in over the last 12 months?
If not then again speak to Pink Fish as we could make a big difference.
Lastly…
The New Year is a good time to have a complete revamp of your website.
Here are three simple questions that may help with that decision making processes.
1. Are you proud of your website? Is the www.address on everything you show people?
2. Do you refer people to your website on every possible opportunity?
3. If budget wasn’t an issue would you have your current website or would you have it redesigned today?
If any of these questions make you think, about making changes, then please contact us for a free 2 hour consultation about what your website could be like and the possibilities of using it effectively in 2011
We hope you have a great Christmas from all the Team at Pink Fish

An interesting week in the web business

Having spent the last few days rubbing shoulders with the industry leaders in the internet world, Pink Fish are now armed with the latest in market trends and future developments in the online marketing world. The E commerce show at Olympia hosted industry leaders such as Google, HSBC, World Pay and Pay Pals. These companies are planning huge changes over the next 3 years and the online community will see some very significant changes to the way we browse the internet.
The next big thing will be viewing websites on mobile phones and companies such as River Island, Next and M&S are already revamping their website to be Mobile friendly and viewed on tiny screens on Android phones.
Another very interesting fact came out of listening to Google’s key note speech, was despite the fact we all moan about down load speeds in the UK it turns out we are one of the fastest in the world. This is largely due to dare we say it BT’s telephone cables in the UK.
Below is a small chart showing the average download speeds around the world.
UK – 2.7 seconds
Japan and Far East – 4.1 seconds
Australia 4.3
South America 6.8
East Coast USA 8.2
The UK is currently 2-3 times faster than in some places in Europe such as Germany and Belguim, and is considerably faster than the rest of the world. New Yorkers will typically expect to wait 5-8 seconds for a home page to load. However in some places in Europe, such as Romania the broad band system has been in place for many years. In Romania they have had fibre optic connections and a 20mb line at home is common.
Please check back again soon to see what else we have learnt this week.
