The problem with many websites is that there is always a 3 way battle between the visual Design, the technical functionality and the SEO compliance.
Some Technical designers design purely with SEO in mind and consequently the layout fits all the compliance and is Google friendly, but lacks some of the visual impact and tend to look like every other website designed in this way.
The other end of the spectrum is a beautifully stunning website that is full of graphics and incorporate flash and trendy plug ins, but can be seen by Google and is never found unless you know the URL.
The answer is to use all three tribes and have a project manager sit in between the web producers and the client to achieve the best of all worlds. Not an easy task, as designers by nature are passionate about design, Techies and SEO people don’t see the point in pretty pictures if they can t be seen by Google.
But there is a another element to this argument, in that is not about design or functionality is about marketing! Its really all about getting business enquires. This is the main and most import role of a website. It’s great to have a pretty website and create a good customer experience and its important for it to be seen and found on Google.
But if the website isn’t leading to genuine good quality enquires from customers, that wish to purchase your goods or services. Then it’s not a good investment and isn’t doing its job.
If your business isn’t getting at least one enquiry every week from your website? Then it needs looking at by a professional firm that knows how to pull all the elements together and make the website earning its keep.
